>DEAR FRIENDS,
>The messages today(Larry,Bill,Perry) bring a great deal of sadness.
>
>I gather some AFSC regional directors have found that position stressful.
Obviously Bill has as well. I regret that Bill lost hope in the
organization, and felt led to resign. Remarkable programs have been
instituted by SERO during his tenure.
>
>I can only say that this has not been my experience. I have been
associated with AFSC for over 50 years in a variety of capacities, and
currently serve on the Corporation. Some of my deepest spiritual
experiences have occurred in some of the deliberations of the AFSC Board.
Those whom I know in the Third World Coalition and in the gay/lesbian
community involved in AFSC affairs have my deepest respect and friendship. I
have not witnessed an unwillingness of Board members to discuss sensitive
and controversial issues.
>
>AFSC has had, and will continue to have, our support. We are confident
that AFSC will continue to meet the challenges facing us today: intolerance
& violence both domestically & abroad, unequal distribution of resources.
>
>Bill has been our personal friend over many years and will continue to be.
We are confident that his clear leading will guide him to new areas of
service and fullfillment.
