Greetings to Clerks of Worship Groups and Monthly Meetings and their
Representatives to SAYMA,

I write for a reason which begs your careful attention.  It addresses the
review process recommended by the formulators of *A Guide to Our Faith and
Our Practice.

Keeping in mind the process agreed upon when our *Guide* was approved in
1990, the time has come to ask that the Yearly Meeting devote attention to
discerning the relevance of the testimonies and queries currently found in
the *Guide.*  After consultation with members of the committee that
developed this document, it seems evident that the process should begin
within each Worship Group and Monthly Meeting of SAYMA.

The queries found below have been provided so that we all use the same
criteria for evaluation.  If you find that other queries are more helpful,
we ask that you include them with your report.  It is our desire that over
the next year this exercise will be given worshipful deliberation, and that
your recommendations be submitted by First Month, 2000, for consideration by
the appointed committee.

-- How has the *Guide* proven useful in the spiritual life of your Worship
Group or Monthly Meeting?

-- In what ways have you addressed particular subjects of concern about the
*Guide* that have arisen in your Worship Group or Monthly Meeting?

--  Has your Worship Group or Monthly Meeting discerned and seasoned the
recommendations for content changes to the *Guide* that you propose?
