| Give
your water garden a prehistoric flavor with this rush-like
relative of ferns. This ancient plant was present when dinosaurs
roamed the earth, and horsetails can currently be found throughout
North America, Europe, and Asia. More recently, settlers to North
America used the plant to clean pots and pans, giving them their other
common name of "Scouring Rush." Now horsetails are primarily
ornamental plants --- their variegated stems add vertical interest to
water gardens. This plant is suitable for bog gardens, water gardens, Japanese gardens and along pond or stream margins. Horsetails can be grown in up to 4 inches of standing water and prefer to have their feet kept wet. Once established in your water garden, they will spread rapidly from the rootstock. |

All plants will be shipped bare-rooted. Your plant may have its leaves cut back for shipping or may be dormant at the time of shipping. Please unpack your plants as soon as possible and soak the roots for at least an hour in water, then plant them as soon as possible. Keep them well watered for the first few weeks as they become established.
All of the photos on this website show plants which have been well established --- your plant can look like this once it has a few weeks or months to get used to its new situation, but please don't expect them to look like this straight out of the box. (Some of the photos show groupings of plants.) All of the plants sold on this page are perennials, so they will enliven your garden year after year!

We want you to be totally happy with your order. Keep in mind that some wilting is natural during shipment of bare-rooted plants. However, if your plants die within 14 days, you may mail the plants back and we will refund your money or replace your plants at our discretion. (You pay return shipping.)
