About Wetknee Farm Wetknee Farm is 58 acres of woods,
wetland, and garden in Scott County, Virginia. Most of the
property is devoted to protecting native plants and animals, which
reach a worldwide peak of biodiversity in this portion of the southern
Appalachian Mountains.
I sustainably harvest small numbers of native plants each year to be sold as decorative garden plants or herbs. I plant American Ginseng, which is overharvested in the wild and is on the Virginia Rare Plant List, so that I can harvest small amounts of ginseng roots, plants, and seeds. I also control invasive species. Otherwise, I leave the ecosystem in its natural state as much as possible. In the garden, I also strive to keep the ecosystem in balance. My operation is on too small of a scale to make it affordable to become certified organic, but you can rest assured that all of your plants were grown without any pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Wetknee Farm is an internet business and is not open to the public. However, farm tours can be arranged upon request. |
