Dear SAYMA Friends,

Please see note from Friend Jonah McDonald on emergency need for funds for
the Peacebuilders Camp. I am making an additional donation and have asked
our social concerns committee to add another $300. I hope any of you who
are led will do so right away, since they need to decide by June 19 what to

 *Dear Friends of Peacebuilders Camp,*

Erica, Marilyn and I were just looking at our list of 2013 campers and
were so excited to see ...kids who are passionate about peace & justice ...kids
from many different cities, various states, and even several different
countries ...kids whose families weren't going to be able to send them to
camp without the scholarships we offer ...and kids who loved camp so much
last year that they are coming back again this year. The two sessions are
both filled with really great groups of campers and we can't wait to meet
them all!

Despite this excitement about our campers (who are why we run this camp),
I'm writing you today because Peacebuilders Camp is in a bit of a bind.
Though we've already surpassed our 2013 fundraising goal, two circumstances
have put us behind the mark at which our scholarship fund should be: First,
our campers have demonstrated a greater need for scholarship funds than in
any past year. And second, we just found out that a grant we've always
received in the past will not come through until next fiscal year. As a
result, we find our 24 campers in need of a total of $2,400 in scholarship

Though the first session of camp begins next week, we have until June 19 to
make up the deficit and therefore provide the needed scholarships for our
second session campers. Can you help? Would you forward this email to your
friends who share your passion for peace & justice?

A $650 donation provides a full scholarship for a refugee from Burma or
Burundi who has never had the experience of camp, but any amount will help.

Though my last several emails have been about money, I look forward to very
soon sending you photos and stories from a very successful summer of
Peacebuilders Camp at Koinonia Farm! Thanks for your support!

*Peacebuilders Camp at Koinonia Farm is an overnight camp dedicated to
bringing together a diverse group of campers to live in community, learn
ways to create peace and justice in the world, and have fun. Campers build
deep friendships, meet peacemakers, swim, hike, serve others, and learn new
ways they can make a positive difference in their world.*
